Place a Product Instance in a Sandbox
When a product instance is first created, it is placed in a sandbox. That product instance cannot subsequently be moved to any other sandbox, though the same effect can be produced by creating a copy of it in a different sandbox.
To place or replace a product instance in its sandbox, you simply upload the file or files for the instance to the product instance container.
Once a product instance is created and located in its sandbox, you can:
- Create one or more content packages in the product instance to store one or more builds of your product.
- Publish selected content packages in the product instance to the sandbox, so that the product builds in those content packages are available for run-time access by users and devices that have the correct permissions.
- Deactivate the product instance so that none of its content packages are available, and later reactivate it so that its content packages can again be published to the sandbox.
Deactivate or reactivate a product instance in a sandbox
Once you place a product instance in a sandbox, it can be deactivated at any time (so it is no longer available for run-time access). One reason you might want to deactivate an instance of a product in a sandbox is so you can place another instance of the same product in that same sandbox. It is possible to have more than one instance of a single product located in a sandbox at the same time, but only one of those instances can be active at any time.
A deactivated product instance can be reactived at a later time in the same sandbox.
To deactivate or reactivate a product instance in its sandbox:
- On the product detail page, in the table of product instances, click the product instance’s name in the column labeled Description. This location is different from the ID of the sandbox, which is displayed in the column labeled Sandbox.
- On the Product Instance page, in the Status row, do one of the following:
- To deactivate an active product instance, click Deactivate. The status changes to Inactive.
- To activate an inactive product instance, click Activate. The status changes to Active.
- Click the browser Back button to return to the information page for the product.
