Submit Documentation for Help, Privacy Notice, and Terms of Use

You submit the files that contain the Help, privacy notice, and terms of use for your product on Xbox Developer Portal (XDP). You can also download files that have been previously submitted through XDP.

The initial presentation of the Game Help, Privacy, Terms of use page does not display any files that might already be submitted for your product. You must click the type of documentation-Game Help, Privacy, or Terms of use-to display any existing documents of those types.

For information about creating, uploading, and publishing Game Help, see Create, Upload, and Publish Game Help.

For the terms of use and the privacy notice, XDP displays each culture, identified in the Applicable Culture(s) column, for which there is documentation. However, for help documentation, XDP groups cultures that have the same file.

Important

For Help files, be sure that the files that you submit use Unicode characters coded as UTF-8. Using UTF-8 ensures that all characters in the file are parsed correctly by the console.

One way to ensure that a file is properly coded is to open it in Notepad, click Save As on the File menu, and then click UTF-8 on the Encoding list before clicking Save.

Add or change product documentation

The procedure for submitting product documentation is the same for the Help, the privacy notice, and the terms of use.

To replace a documentation file that has been previously submitted through XDP, you must first delete the file on XDP. After doing so, you can upload a replacement.

To submit a documentation file

  1. Navigate to the product page and either click Game Help, Privacy, Terms… from the left-hand menu or under the Catalog & Artwork heading.
XDP displays the Game Help, Privacy, Terms of use page.
  2. On the left, click the name of the type of documentation that you are submitting: Game Help, Privacy, or Terms of use.
  3. On the right, click Add new for the type of documentation.
For example, clicking Add new game help displays Step 1 and Step 2.
  4. Under Step 1: Select culture(s), select the language for which the documentation you are submitting is intended.
XDP then displays the regions in which the selected language is spoken.
  5. Verify or modify the selection of languages and regions for the documentation you are submitting.
If there are any files already submitted for one of the regions that you have selected, XDP will not accept the file that you are attempting to submit.
  6. Under Step 2, click Browse, navigate to the local copy of the file you are submitting, and click Open.
  7. Click Save.

Note Game help files can take up to 48 hours to fully propogate through the system and become visible on the XDP.

To delete a documentation file
