Configure the Ratings Metadata for the Catalog Listing
Use the Xbox Developer Portal (XDP) to configure the ratings metadata for your product.
The Catalog Rating Metadata page displays the ratings configuration for a product after you click the name of a ratings board, and it displays the ratings for each ratings board individually. To review all of the ratings for your product, you must click the name of each relevant ratings board.
Add or change ratings metadata
Configure ratings for a product by navigating to the main page for the product in XDP, and then use the following procedure.
To configure ratings metadata for a product
- Under Catalog & Artwork, click Catalog Rating Metadata. Alternatively, select Catalog Rating Metadata from the left navigation menu.
XDP displays the Catalog Rating Metadata page.
- On the left side of the page, click the name of the ratings board for which you are configuring ratings.
On the right side of the page, XDP displays the settings available for that ratings board. If XDP does not seem to be displaying all of the options for the ratings board that you chose, click the name again.
- From the Notation list for the ratings board, select the appropriate notation for the current product.
The name of the ratings board is included in the label-for example, ESRB Notation.
Note Notes about ESRB ratings:
- If the product doesn’t yet have a rating and will be offered for pre-order, the ESRB Notation should be set to either RPEveryone (Rating Pending with EC to E10+ expected) or RPTeen (Rating Pending with Teen to Mature expected).
- AO (Adults Only) is listed as an option under ESRB Notation, but games with that rating aren’t allowed on Xbox.
- If the ratings board has disclaimers, select or clear the appropriate disclaimers under Disclaimers.
Not every ratings board has disclaimers.
- If the ratings board has descriptors, select or clear the appropriate descriptors under Descriptors.
Not every ratings board has descriptors.
- When you are done configuring settings for the displayed ratings board, click Save.
When you save your configuration, XDP retains only the configuration for the ratings board that is currently displayed. If you made changes to settings for another ratings board, those are not saved until you click Save while those settings are displayed.
Submit ratings metadata for review and approval
When you have configured ratings metadata for each of the relevant ratings boards for your product, and saved each configuration, your ratings metadata is ready for submission for review.
After submitting your ratings metadata for review, you can wait for approval or rejection. You can also cancel your request and make additional changes; when changes are complete, you can submit your ratings again.
Note
You only need to submit ratings for approval in the CERT sandbox.
Submit ratings for review by navigating to the main page for the product in XDP, and then use the following procedure.
To submit ratings metadata for review
- Navigate to the Catalog Rating Metadata page.
- In Comments, type any comments that you want to make about this submission.
Adding comments is optional.
- Click Submit. Once you submit your rating, you will see your Approval Status, which should be Pending. You can then cancel your submission by clicking Cancel.
