Selecting a Statistic Instance (Service Configuration)

This topic provides a procedure for selecting a statistic instance from statistics rules that already exist.

For an overall introduction to the various elements of the service configuration, see Introducing Service Configuration.

What is a statistic instance?

Statistics rules generate statistics about a user, which are stored on Xbox Live. Statistics rules can each generate many statistics, which are called stat instances on Xbox Developer Portal (XDP). For example, if your game involves slaying dragons, you can create a statistics rule to generate statistics for the number of dragons killed by color. This statistics rule would generate a single statistic instance for each color of dragon in your game.

Select a stat instance

To select a stat instance

  1. Click Select an Instance from the particular dialog box that you’re in. The dialog box depends on what you’re configuring:
  2. The Add Stat Instance dialog box appears in which the Stat Rule list box defaults to the first statistics rule in the list. Select a statistics rule from the drop-down list. If a field is part of the statistics rule, enter a specific field value. To configure the statistic instance, click the appropriate button when you are done.

Note If you are configuring a statistic instance with multiple fields, each field will have a place to provide the instance value.
