This topic provides procedures for configuring access policies in the service configuration for a title.

For an overall introduction to the various elements of the service configuration, see Introducing Service Configuration.

What is access policy?

Access policies provide a way to allow access to certain configuration services.

You can configure access policies for these services:

Configure access policies

Important You can add access policies and delete policies that you’ve added, but the default policies can’t be removed.

To add a read-only or full access policy:

  1. Select the Access tile from the Service Configuration Tasks page for the product instance, or click Access from the left-hand menu.
  2. On the Service Configuration Access page, under Scopes, click the Edit icon for the service that you want to add a policy for.
  3. In the Edit Scope Policies dialog box, click Add policy for read-only or full access.
  4. Specify a policy component in the combo box. If you want to add another component to this policy, click the + symbol, and specify that component.
  5. After you’ve completed adding policies, click Save Policies.

Delete access policies

Important The default policies can’t be removed; you can only delete policies that you added.

To delete a read-only or full access policy:

  1. Select the Access tile from the Service Configuration Tasks page.
  2. On the Service Configuration Access page, under Scopes, click the Edit icon for the content that you want to delete a policy for.
  3. In the Edit Scope Policies dialog box, click the Delete icon for policy that you want to delete.
  4. After you’ve completed deleting policies, click the Save Policies button.

Enable third party tournament organizers

To enable a tournament organizer:

  1. Set up multiplayer team and game session templates. For information on configuring these templates, see Configure Multiplayer Session Templates (Service Configuration).
  2. On the Service Configuration Access page for the product instance, edit the scope policies for Multiplayer.Manage. Add a policy that gives full access to the service ID provided by the tournament organizer.
  3. Repeat step 2 for the Multiplayer.Runtime scope.
  4. When you’re finished, publish the service config. The tournament organizer will now be able to create match sessions for your title, and capture the results reported by the client.
