Add a User Account and the User to an Access Group

Before users can access and work with your Xbox One content, they must each have an Xbox Developer Portal (XDP) user account-and each account must be included in at least one access group.

Note

To add and configure user accounts in XDP, you must be a member of an access group with the appropriate permissions in your organization. A person in your organization with Publisher Org Administration permission or Publisher Management permission creates user accounts for people in your organization.

Before an XDP user can be granted access to work with Xbox One content, the user’s XDP account must be assigned permission and included in at least one XDP access group.

The permission that is assigned defines the kinds of work that the user can do with the content they are granted access to. For info about the available permissions, see Introducing Permissions.

Obtain a Microsoft account for each XDP user

In order to be added to your organization in XDP, each user must have a Microsoft account. If the user you want to add doesn’t have a Microsoft account, either you or the user can create one at https://signup.live.com/signup.aspx?lic=1.

On that page, fill out the form and register using your corporate email address.

If you have any difficulty in creating Microsoft account, send a request for assistance, including the details, to one of the following contacts:

Add a new XDP user to your organization

If a user is not yet added in XDP as part of your organization, you must add them before you can add them to an access group. If a user is already configured as part of your organization, you do not need to add them again.

To add a new user to your XDP organization

  1. On the Manage menu, click Access Management.
Under My Groups, XDP displays existing access groups. The center of the page displays details of the access group that is currently selected. The right side of the page may list user accounts that are ready to be added to the currently selected access group.
  2. If you are not sure if a user has already been added, check for that person’s name in the column on the right.
You can filter the displayed names by typing part or all of a name in the text box under Add new contact. If you find the user is already added to your organization, you can skip this procedure and proceed to add the user to an access group.
  3. Click Add new contact.
  4. Under Adding contact, type the user’s first name, last name, e-mail address, Microsoft account ID, and Xbox gamertag.
Specifying a gamertag is optional. A user’s Microsoft account ID is the e-mail address used to create the Microsoft account, and it does not need to match the user’s other e-mail address.
  5. Click Create.

Add an XDP user to an access group

Permissions and access to resources are assigned to access groups. A user has the permissions and access of the access group or groups in which their XDP user account is a member.

To add an XDP user to an access group

  1. On the Manage menu, click Access Management.
  2. Under Groups, click the name of the access group to which you want to add a user.
XDP displays the name of the selected access group under the name of your publisher organization near the top of the page.
  3. Under the name of the currently selected access group, click People if it is not already selected.
  4. Locate the name of the person whom you want to add to the currently selected access group, and click the + symbol next to the person’s name.
To find someone’s name in a long list of names, type part or all of the person’s name in the text box under Add new contact.
