PIX Window Arrangement
Although PIX can be used on a laptop or standard desktop PC with a single monitor, a multi-monitor setup is recommended.
You can create multiple PIX windows and put them on separate monitors to maximize screen real estate usage. To create new top-level windows, and potentially move them to another monitor, use the Create New Window command in the View pane in the File tab. This command duplicates the current PIX instance into an auxiliary window. You can choose an alternate tab within the auxiliary window, independent of the main PIX window. You can select view layouts independently in each top-level PIX window you create. Note the difference between the “Main” window and “Auxiliary” windows, designated in the title bar. If you close an “Auxiliary” window, it simply goes away. If you close the “Main” window, it closes PIX completely, including all captures, windows, etc. The next time you launch PIX your Auxiliary windows will reappear where you left them.
Creating a custom view for your PIX analysis
There is a simple process to editing existing user interface layouts and creating new user interface layouts in PIX. There is no longer a view editor, but drag and drop editing similar to Microsoft Visual Studio.
For basic editing operations, such as rearranging parts of a layout or moving parts of a layout to a different monitor, you simply click and drag the desired parts and drop them where you want them.
To add new views to your layout click the Views button in the upper right corner of the main window in PIX. This brings up the list of available views for the current capture type. You can drag views from this list to the active tab or drop them outside existing windows to create new windows.
The Views list also has a Revert to default button so you can always get back to the PIX default user interface layout if needed.
Comparing Multiple Captures
PIX supports multiple documents (screen captures) and multiple monitors.
Only one analysis can be run on any one Xbox One console at a time. To compare multiple analyses it is possible to connect to two or more Xbox One consoles by specifying different IP addresses in the Select Development Kit dialog.

To compare two analysis, take both captures, and then compare them using one of these techniques:
- Switching between them with the Document selector dropdown list. Note that state in all the viewers is preserved when switching views.
- Creating another window, perhaps using the customizing options described above, and set the active document appropriately, and do a side-by-side comparison.
