Xbox Developer Portal [Deprecated]

Important Xbox Developer Portal has been replaced, and publishing is now done through Partner Center. Please see Publish Windows apps and games, the Xbox Live Testing and Releasing documentation, and the Advanced Publishing Guide.

After your company has an agreement to create products for Xbox One, you can begin to configure your content in the Xbox Developer Portal (XDP).

If your company does not yet have an agreement for Xbox One or is not yet set up with XDP access, and you are…

The ID@Xbox program enables qualified game developers of all sizes to unleash their creativity by self-publishing digital games on Xbox One, giving studios the tools and support needed to maximize their success. To learn more, see Developing Games for Xbox One and Windows 10.

When do I use the XDP?

You use the Xbox Developer Portal (XDP) throughout the process of developing, certifying, and releasing your Xbox One products. You need to begin using it early in the development process to create data that is specific to your game or app. Later in the process, you use the XDP to share your app, certify it, and distribute it to customers.

Why use the XDP?

The XDP is more than just a way to upload content for consumers; think of it as the gatekeeper and repository for all content that is available to Xbox One users.

The XDP provides access to the digital location where all assets are maintained and stored. This is true both during the development process and during retail distribution. In the past, all of the testing and development was either performed locally or under PartnerNet, an independent network that simulated the Xbox Live network. For Xbox One there is no equivalent to PartnerNet; there is a single network, and you can upload your content to it via the XDP. As a result of this, you will begin using the XDP before your content is complete.

How secure is the XDP?

The XDP has a robust system of content isolation to guarantee that your products are protected from unauthorized access. When it is time to make your content available to customers-after development and certification are complete-it is simply a matter of having Microsoft change the access rights. One of the primary advantages of using a single network for submission and storage is that you can test your products in the release environment during development, and can also easily share the product with your testers and developers.

For more information about this process, see Content Isolation Protects your Product Instances.
