Hardware Items Included with Your Xbox One
There is hardware, including parts and peripherals, supplied with the Xbox One dev kit. Some hardware and peripherals, however, must be supplied by you.
Supplied Hardware, Parts, and Peripherals
The Xbox One dev kit should include:
- A custom designed console.

Figure 2. The Xbox One S developer console.

- A power supply, and separate power cable.
In a separate accessory bundle are the following items:
- HDMI cable.
- Ethernet cable.
- Xbox One controller.
There also is a separate package that contains:
- An Xbox One Kinect sensor.
- A Kinect sensor connection cable.
The Xbox One X dev kit also comes with an XDK Transfer Device (XTD), a high-speed USB 3.0 transfer cable with a bandwidth of up to 350 MB/s that enables fast title deployment and PIX capture and analysis. See Introducing the Xbox One X Dev Kit for more information.
Hardware, Parts, and Peripherals You Supply
You also will need the following items that are not included in the dev kit:
- Standard USB Keyboard. Mouse input is not supported.
- A monitor or TV that supports a resolution of 1080p or 720p and equipped with HDMI input for video and audio.
Xbox One consoles are designed for the 1080p output format. More specifically, 1920x1080 60Hz progressive timing (148.5MHz VIC=16), 24bpp YCbCr color, and stereo audio are enabled at boot. This video mode is the one most commonly supported by televisions which advertise 1080p support. 720p is supported to enable testing at this resolution. HDCP is not enabled. We strongly recommend that you use an HDMI cable and not an HDMI-to-DVI cable or converter.
If you want to test your title running in 4K (on the Xbox One X) and/or HDR (on the Xbox One S or Xbox One X), you’ll need a monitor or TV that supports it. See Xbox One X Retail Console Hardware Specs for information about the Xbox One X’s specifications.
- A gigabit Ethernet switch is recommended.
- A Windows-based development system (for specifications, see Verifying Requirements for Your Development Computer).
