Connecting Your Development Computer to Your Dev Kit

After you complete the installation of your development computer and select dev kit mode on your Xbox One console, you can connect from the development computer to the console. Use the console IP address you recorded in the Changing from Retail to Dev Kit Mode step or use a hostname. For more information about the hostname option, refer to Setting a Hostname for the Console IP Address. The development computer tools for working with the dev kit use either a console IP address or a hostname to connect to the dev kit.

You can use Xbox One Manager or a command prompt to connect the development computer to the dev kit.

To connect the development computer to the dev kit using a command prompt, type one of the following options in an Xbox One XDK command prompt.

 xbconnect console IP address

Or

 xbconnect hostname

If you are unable to connect your development computer to the dev kit, see the Troubleshooting section in this topic.

After you connect the development computer to the dev kit, flash the operating system recovery onto your dev kit by following the instructions at Flashing the OS Recovery onto Your Dev Kit.

For more details about the xbconnect command refer to Connect (xbconnect.exe).
